The Civic Music Association Scholarships are intended to strengthen and support the musical arts by offering financial assistance to musically talented students who plan to pursue some aspect of a music program at the college or university they plan to attend. Recipients are not required to major in music.


CMA  2016  Scholarship presented to Bethany Terral!
Congratulations to Bethany Terral, Clifton High School Senior, for being selected as the 2016 CivicMusic
Association Scholarship winner! Bethany has been an outstanding student at Clifton High School in all
areas. She ranked 2nd in her class, was amember of the Clifton High School National Honor Society, was
amember of the Cross Country team, and played trumpet as amember of the Clifton High School Band.
Shewas selected to the ATSSB All-State Band her sophomore and senior years. She competed in UIL
Solo and Ensemble competition andwas award a 1st division rating. Bethany also was a member of the
Clifton High School Jazz Band. Shewas a strong leader in the band where she led by example andwas
always willing to help out her classmates. Shewas presented with the CHS Band OutstandingMusician
Award in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Bethany will be attending Stephen F. Austin State University in the fall
of 2016majoring inMusic Education. Upon graduation she plans on being a BandDirector. CMA is proud
to have a student like Bethany chosen as the recipient of the 2016 CMA Scholarship Award.    {DT}

CMA  2015  Scholarship presented to  Sydney Montgomery

The CMA 2015 Scholarship was presented to Sydney Montgomery  from Valley Mills High School.  During her tenure at Valley Mills HIgh School she was in the high school band.  She won many honors during those four years.  She served as Band President her Senior year,  She performed in the Valley Mills High School marching,band, concert band and the jazz band.  She participated in UIL Solo and Ensemble contests and won 1st Division medals several years.  She plans on attending Texas A&M University-Commerce and becoming a Band Director.  In addition to her accomplishments in the band, she was an outstanding student academically and was 9th in her graduating class.  Sydney was most deserving of the CMA Scholarship Award. The Civic Music Association Scholarships are funded by donations from any citizen interested in supporting the performing arts.

The Civic Music Association Scholarships are given with consideration to:

  • The quality of the audition performance
  • The student’s record of experience and success in musical performance
  • The student’s high school academic record (a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required)
  • The student must be a graduating senior of any Bosque County high school or home school program.
